Hello, I was wondering if someone could tell me more about whats used as the swivel on a rear blade. I have some steel, and even an older blade off of a 1940s tractor that I would going to make into a rear blade as I need one this summer. I could come up with various ways of making a swivel...but I was wondering what the actual manufactured rear blades use to swivel? I've never looked at one. I see some pictures on here where it looks nothing more then a 3/4 inch threaded bolt. And how long is it normally. Thanks.

Definitely not 3/4" for the shaft. More like 3 or 4"

Im in the process of designing a smaller version of this (below) and will be using 3" for the shafts and 1/2" (likely 3/4") for the rotation plates.

Nice setup, I did something similar about 25 years ago with a 10' all hydraulic rearblade. Added a set of combine rear wheels that folded up out of the way and added weight to the blade or all the way down to use as guage wheels. Wish I had that setup to use now, pulled it with a Case 1370 tractor.

I just went out and looked at my 6' cat 1 rear blade. It has a 4" OD tubing welded to the structure that hooks to the tractor, with a smaller tubing inside that is fastened to the blade assy and the top plate which rotates with the blade. The pin which goes in one of several holes is 1".

I have a fair bit of driveway to maintain... several times a year, so I hope a grader setup like that will help.. I was going to buy an off the shelf rear blade, but none I found were heavy enough for my liking.

I think you might be money ahead with a small landplane for driveway maintenance. I built this one last year for my x749 and should be just right for a BX25.

Ok, thats a big help actually. Tubing. I was thinking of an old axle out of a pickup. Maybe get one end partially threaded...
