I recently acquired my first piece of equipment and need some guidance with some basic repairs.

The machine is a Case 480B. I need to repack the seals in both swing cylinders.

I bought a gland wrench for the project and got the seal kits from the local Case shop.

Specifically, I need to know how to remove the pins that hold the cylinder rods in place. Do they need to be pounded down from above or push them up?

Any advice would be great. Thank you all in advance.

IIRC, the pins come out the bottom.

It's been a long time, but I think you need to swing the boom to one side at about a 45 degree angle.

You really need to get a copy of the shop manual, or at least get someone to copy that page or two. It could save you a lot of headache.
