I saw this in the pond. It is about 2 feet long. I couldn't tell if it was a snake or a turtle so I snapped a shot before it disappeared underwater. Now looking at the picture I still don't know. What is it???? A snake that ate a turtle? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Water refraction distorting the size of the middle of a snake just trying to get from here to there.

Looks like a turtle to me. Or maybe it is a baby Nessie. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

The long neck may be fooling us into first thinking snake, but in reality turtles can reach a good ways back with their LONG neck. My guess is turtle also.

It looks like a Cotton headed rattle mocasin from here. Really it does look like a cotton mouth / water mocasin. THe tail looks stubby like one and the nose and head are very blunt. The best adce for an up close view is a 12 gauge and number 8 shot. I dont mean to sound blunt cruel or like i have a kill all attitude but im not fond of snakes like that. They can bite under water and are aggressive.

How about we keep playing and the animal, whatever it is, keeps living. So long as it is not hurting a human why kill it...........besides this is fun guessing, but I still say a turtle
