sweet ?2 JD 4020 tractor w/open station

This is how a 4020 was listed in the auction listing, that sold last Saturday, about 5 miles from me. Wish I could have gone. Everything he had was really well taken care of.

Sweet '72 JD 4020 tractor w/open station, diesel, wf, side console, 480/85R34, & 3660 hrs (SN-268192R)

A fellow, from I believe IL. called the auctioneer two weeks ago, and wanted to know if he thought this 4020 could be bought for $20,000.00. He told him, he hoped so, or at least bring that much. The fellow told the auctioneer one, in I believe Iowa in similar condition brought $26,000.00 a while back.

High bidder paid $28,000.00 for this one..!!

Sure would like to know where it went. I saw it go by on a gooseneack trailer, the following Tuesday. Wasn't close enough to the road to see the license plates, to see if it stayed here in Ohio, or elsewhere.

I think I read elsewhere that it went to Wooster, Ohio. I was not at the auction but heard the selling price.

I previewed this auction, that 4020 was not the only collectable item of interest, as is usually the case when you find an individual that acquires quality items and meticulously maintains them from his wife's car to his zero turn mower.
