Been reading that if i swap the back tyres over right to left and vice versa giving slightly wider tyre width. Question is does it really work and what downsides are there to it.

I tried it but my downside was the wheels had some dimples or indentations so the wheels would seat on the hubs. Even so the width difference was minimal so I got spacers instead, but was the only option. So, depends on the wheel and if it has a deeper dish design.

Take one off and try it, it might work. If the tractor has R4s the wheel will have to go on the opposite side to keep the lugs going the correct direction. Works on some but not on others.

worked on my NH 1620 to fit the chains without hitting the fenders.. nothing lost trying it.. if they are filled I would recommend a buddy to keep a hand on the tire.. also a floor jack is your friend.. lower the hub to get to the right height versus trying to lift the tire to the hub..

Thanks for replies my back wheels are deep dished so probably achieve around an extra 85mm width either side. Also one of my mates uses his three way hitch hydraulics to raise backwheels.

Are the wheel rims adjustable (bolted) or fixed/welded in one position? My 4105's are fixed, but many others can be adjusted by bolting them in different configurations:

I moved my R1 tires on the Kubota L3301 from the scary width of 53 inches to a tad over 66 inches.
Tractor feels way more stable now.

I was ready to dump it before I made the switch as just to uinstable. before

I am now searching for some thing with a resonable price to make fender extentions to stop getting pelted with flying mud clods. After

My tires are filled with beet juice AKA rim guard. So they were heavy yet I was able to do the job alone with a bottle jack and a pair of Jack stands.

View attachment 581380View attachment 581381My front & rear wheels have the ability to be set to eight varying widths as shown in the document posted by Wagtail. FORTUNATELY - I had the dealer set my rears wide( 80" ) and my fronts ( 64" ) at the mid point. My rears are loaded with RimGuard and weigh a tad over 1000# each. Changing the set of the rears is not a job I would consider a DIY project.
