Loader Suprises found during oil changes

Doing the 400 hr hydraulic fluid and filter change, found this between filter base and hyd suction filter.

Someone at factory got a little sloppy with the RTV?

Also found this at rear of front transmission case, pretty common I suppose. Needle nose pliers, grab and pull.

I just changed the filters on my M7060 and there was a pretty big piece of RTV squeeze out in the filter. Probably only half of what you show.

So they used RTV and a gasket? Sounds like a bad idea because it can squeeze into the filter and block passages.

It is reasons such as these that render the first service so important.

Regardless of what the book says, I change all lubricants and all filters at 50 hours.

Actually Kubota uses 3 Bond during assembly. Good stuff too. I have a couple tubes in my toolbox. Much better than 'Blue Glue'.

The suction filters (2) on the M59 have a more expensive filter option that have an flat refrigerator magnet like ring inside the sealing ring. Parts guy asked, do you want the $60 filter or the $87?

A millwright trick I picked up is to stick magnet of the side of the filter or gearbox and remove when changing the oil. Sometimes sticking the magnet on the drain plug. Magnet on bush hog gearbox for over 25 years. Still smooth and no leaks.

The M5030 had a magnetic stem that went down into the hydraulic oil filter. Wiped clean when changing filter had some fine black film. Tractor also monitored differential pressure(?) on hydraulic filter. Alarm light if filter was plugging. Only Kubota tractor I had that had this feature. Light would go on with key then off when when started. Never had it come on during operation.

Old computers had strong magnets for repurposing.

I do the 'neodum' magnet thing on the oil filters on the cars all the time. Secure them with a zip tie and when I renew the filter, I move the magnet to the new filter. The M9's also have a circular magnet in the primary filter and yes, I remember the magnet and the warning light on my sold 5030. Good memory. About every slush box tranny (cars and light trucks) will have a doughnut magnet or 2 in the sump pan as well. Ever since the initial change on my M9's, I just clean the magnet and place it on the new filter per the instructions in the owners and workshop manual.
