Super steer question....

just a couple of quick questions..........
I'm looking at what appears to be a semi-sweet deal on a TC-35D.....

just over 600 hrs--- NH fel and in excellent shape.......(garage kept)
drove it and really liked the super steer option.....

question(s).......they want $16,400.00 drive off price.....
is this reasonable??? I suspect they will get off of this price a little more if I go in with my gameface on....

the super steer thing.....
is it reliable over time??? do they still use it on the new N/H tractors??

Supersteer has been on Ford/NH tractors since the 90's. It is used on tractors all the way up to the high 200 hp mark (they may have even hit 300 hp by now I can't remember). It is still being used and is quite reliable.

There have been a couple people that have had a problem here and there with them but nothing consistent. Usually most problems are from lack of grease (basic maintenace).

Supersteer has been around forever, and it's a good option in my opinion. The only downside to it is the learning curve associated with loader work - but once you get used to it, you'll love it. I have a TN70 with supersteer, and I would definitely do it again. In fact, I've looked at some of the newer models out there, and one of the options that I feel is a must have is the supersteer.

The tractor sold new for about $19,000-$19,500 depending on the year it was sold, probably a 2002-2003 model based on the number of hours.SuperSteer was about $1500 or less as an option. On a used tractor, I would not expect that to have more than a $500 impact on price.

Yes...when it is somebody else's tractor you are trying to buy. If it is yours and you are trying to sell it, then it's practically new.

...and you have to tell the seller that you don't trust SuperSteer because you've heard all sorts of loader problems from using it...and on and on with a whole litany of problems of these "old" boomers. Never let them see you are excited about this great tractor you just found. As a buyer you have to make them think you are ready to walk away from a shaky deal on a tractor that you think is on it's last leg. Make them think you are doing them a favor by taking it off their hands before it coughs and spits and dies.

Thanks for the help and info with this........I think this tractor is a late 2002 year model....sounds like the super steer option is not a bad one...it was sweet driving it around.......felt like the tractor was on a turntable...

I'm trying to shake off the fever I have for this tractor and I hope I don't drool in front of the guy selling it.......I try to tell myself that it's too small for what I have to do, but can't manage to let it go.....on this site off and on thru the day at work and comparing the specs on this to newer orange and blue rigs...

So what's that make my 21 year old 2120? An antique. I still think of it as pretty new. I can tell you it has held up better than several of my friend's lighter built Kubotas

I just got done washing down my 1920 after spraying the apples and couldn't get over how clean and new looking that tractor looks still. I think Ford/Shibaru might have used a higher quality paint on the 20 series compacts as most of those tractors look great still even after all these years yet the newer New Hollands seem to fade and look "old" rather quickly.
