We have one of these on our deck, it's great. Bought it from Costco at a slightly lower price but fewer color choices. If it gets wet, do remember to extend it to dry within a day or so but ours dries very quickly in the sun. Remote control is nice, probably wouldn't have bought it separately if it wasn't part of the package but for your application where you would want to extend the awning if it starts raining, a good idea! Enjoy.

I have a manual model which is good quality and I like it. Go to the web site (sunsetter.com) and read the FAQ section. When it rains, one corner needs to be lowered to facilitate drainage and they also sell rainaway arches which I don't have but are designed to stop pooling on the fabric. I don't believe the motorized models can lower one corner and they recommend that they be retracted when there is rain. For rain protection, they recommend the manual models (see question 16)
