Sump pump time again warranty issues

Advantage... Motor is out of the water so no seal issues (motor gets wet, motor dies)
Impeller assembly is smaller, easier to attach the exit plumbing to.
Less expensive to buy

Disadvantage....
If the space overhead is limited, may not fit
Most have a plastic bottom assembly, not cast, could be an advantage or disadvantage depending on the amount of crud it has to pump out.
Float switch sometimes fail but are easy to remove and replace

In my case I want a thermoplastic lower assembly as I dump the acidic condensate from the condensing furnace into the sump as well.
I had no idea that the condensation water that drains from a furnace was acidic and could cause damage that regular water doesn’t !

Certainly is. Why the secondary heat exchanger where the by products of combustion collect and become a solution of condensed water and the by products mix and are expelled by the condensate drain (which will always be plastic), never metal. Why your draft inducer fan housing is structural fiber plastic as well....and expensive to replace, I know, I've replaced one already on my Bryant Plus 90. Efficiency always comes at a cost.

A submersible pump will run forever as long as it's submerged, (cold water), a pedestal pump will eventually overheat, it's air cooled. I replace my very seldom used sump pump about every 5 years, keeping the old one as a backup, or a loaner.
