I have access to a 3/4 ton Chevy truck.
Are there places that will rent trailers for a tractor?

The move will be about 40 miles

U haul rents car trailers that will handle a 4K load. According to the 801 spec sheet I saw it weighs 3300 lb. so your good there. I don't know the width of an 801 so can't say whether it'll fit on a U haul car trailer. If it is wider than the U haul trailer can handle you'll have to find someone maybe with a deckover trailer.

Where are you located? If you only need to move it once call a wrecker company. If you do it at a odd hour and flexible with your schedule they will move it on a roll back fairly cheap.

Remember you got to put gas in that truck. If its gas plan on 8 mpg so about 10 gallons round trip or $40 then about $50 for the trailer. I bet you could get it moved by a wrecker for about the same or right around $100

By the way I have a 861. They are good tractors.

Where are you located. Someone called my a couple of weeks ago about moving a Ford tractor in the southern Ohio area from my craigslist add.

If you go to U-haul, DON'T tell them you are moving a tractor. They ONLY rent for moving cars/trucks. Tell them it is a 3/4 ton truck you will be hauling.

Ford 801 is about 3300 pounds. Filled tires add about 7-800 pounds. Front end loader adds about 1000-1500 pounds. Wheel weights add about 1000 pounds. Fuel and fluids can add a couple hundred. Add up the options you have to get your approximate total weight.

Some things we have done, some things i just want to do myself: Even for the same money i still would want to pick up new tractors by myself (also because i want to see before i buy)
3300 lbs is allmost 1500 kg. Last year i picked up my 3011 (about 1600 kg) about 120 km down, having the cruise control of my 850 TDI at 100 km/h, 2000 rpm, doing 20 miles per gallon on the highway.

The most statisfying things, which i insist on doing myself:
-pickung up newly purchased equipment
-Bringing in the harvest

Less statisfying things to have done by a contractor:
-spreading liquid hog manure

Saw a guy loading a tractor the other day onto a tandem car trailer . He drove up the ramps , the back of the trailer went down , the back of his 4X4 came off the ground and away it all went . Handbrakes don't work too well when the back wheels are in the air .

I was at a job the other day and my truck and trailer were pointed down a fairly steep hill. As I unload the rear of the truck gets pretty light, and as I unloaded at this job it occured to me that the rear may get a little TOO light for this downgrade. I stopped, got off and chocked the trailer and truck wheels, and sure enough when I pulled the chocks after I unloaded there was some strain on them. I'm glad I didn't learn this lesson the hard way!!
