Suggestions for a Bush Hog for Ford 1220

Hi and thanks in advance,

I'm in the market for a used bush hog for a Ford 1220 and was wondering if there is a preferable size for this tractor. I'll be cutting about 23 acres of pasture.

The rule of thumb seems to be one foot of cutter per five PTO horsepower. Actually that's on the conservative side and you'd probably be okay with a four foot cutter. If it starts to bog just slow your forward speed.

Fencing and grazing this would be way more profitable in the long run. Hogging this with a 4 foot brush hog is gonna take forever

Agreed. Not to make this a long post, but the family that actually owns the land decided to let the fields go for a year, so the growth is over 4 feet in some areas. I'm trying to get it back under control.

On another note, I lubed the tractor and mower and the results are great. If I can keep the tractor healthy I'll be able to cut the 10 acres in a few days.
