Hi all,
Two weeks ago I bought a 2004 suburban 2500. It has the 6.0 if that matters. I have a Prodigy P2 controller for my other truck so I ordered a harness and a sleeve to mount under the dash. The original GM brake controller harness was still in the glove box and was never hooked up. I spliced the P2 harness to the factory GM harness and plugged it in under the dash. Everything seems legit so far except for one thing. The Factory GM harness has a 30 amp fuse taped to it. This is the large style fuse. I cannot find where this fuse belongs. I am assuming this is the power to the trailer brakes. Pulled the cover off the fuse panel under the hood and it was not apparent it belonged anywhere there. It doesnt fit anywhere in the fuse panel in the side of the dashboard on the drivers side. Im assuming this is a plug and play for the fuse and no custom wiring is necessary. Im hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Im sure it is right in front of my face. Thanks.

It is the Maxi Fuse used to charge the battery on the trailer. The brakes will work just fine but if its a trailer with a battery such as a camper, dump trailer, or just the battery for a brake away system it will not charge.

Go to R&P Carriage web site and click on the help link. They may have a clue as to where the fuse goes in the Chevy section.

Your 04 suburban has 2 fuse boxes. The fuse box under the hood should have a red wire folded up nearby if it isn't already hooked up. That wire is the charge lead as DP said. It feeds power to the trailer plug to charge the trailer battery. If not hooked up you need to hook it up the the post stud toward the front of the fuse box. The 30A fuse then plugs in to the fuse box (empty fuse slot) to supply power to the stud the red wire connects to. The location where it goes should be listed on the inside of the fuse box cover. I think Etrailer.com has a youtube video of the hookup for your vehicle.
