Backhoe Subframe To Fit JD 48 TO NH TC40A

May aquire a JD 48 backhoe unit soon if my bid is good enough to get one of the two for sale. Does anyone know if there is a subframe that would allow the fit without a lot of modification? The units are not being sold with the subframes included. My TC40 has a 16LA FEL subframe in place.

You might approach this from a "Who makes subframes for my TC40?" standpoint. I have a Woods BH90-X BH on my TC40 so for this manufacturer's subframe information, go to Woods Equipment Company and download "4-POINT SUB-FRAME MOUNTING KIT installation manual (part no. MAN0596). You'll 99% have to modify something on either the BH or the subframe mount. Good luck

Thanks, the mount looks similar to the backhoe pins but I only have a picture to compare with at this time. The Woods subframe looks very strong and well mounted to relieve stress on the tractor. Does yours cause any ground clearance problems in rough areas? Just found the JD mount for a 48 and it just mounts to the back of the JD tractor rearend housing. That don't look near as strong as the woods system. JD uses a Rock Shaft to lift and set the BH on to the frame. That explains the hooks on top of the 48 BH plate. The same procedure that Woods uses to set their BH in to their subframe should work with the 48. Will have to get some measurements to see how many mods will be needed to make the two fit together if I get it.

I think all CUT subframe mounted backhoes are susceptible to close ground clearance however if you operate the tractor with a little foresight it becomes a lesser issue.
From what I've read on other posts, JD has their own type/style of hydraulic couplings which are on the pricey side and you will need to somehow plumb it into the TC40's system. Given the $1500.00+- Woods subframe price and all of the other adaption and parts replacement costs and welding/mechanical skills required, you might want to pass on this JD backhoe.
Call Woods' 800 Tech line and ask who they manufacture and rebadge backhoes for that will fit your TC40.

Good info nickle plate. The more I research this fit the more I lower my bid on the JD 48. I would rather buy a matched unit that I can have up and running in a short time than get a bargin in something that takes weeks to fit.
