So after spending an hr+ last night eventually getting what my state considers vintage snowmobiles running. Spent over an hr on a old skidoo 500 with a shady tree backwoods 136" track conversion. Anyways couldn't get that thing running, checked spark, good to go, so fuel problem, ended up changing out primer, replacing spark plugs anyway, half the fuel lines with new tygon ones,
, about to remove carbs and do a compression test when I finally realized I shut off the fuel valve last year turned it on, and voila runs like a 29 yr old snowmobile should. Figure that's definitely a stupid thread worthy revival.

Reminds me of my tractor dying in my yard and would not restart. Starter wouldn't even click. Tried everything to get it to turn. Nothing. Bought a new start. That wouldn't spin either.....

Realized I'd bumpy the PTO switch and it won't start with that on.

Sat there scratching whats left of my hair, been a good part of a year since i messed with it. Looked it all over, found small kill switch that was turned off. Forgot it was even there. The symbols next to switch made no sense, so i just turned it other way. Fired right up.

Maybe 10 years ago I'd replaced the engine in my log splitter with a Predator. The way the engine's mounted you can barely see the kill switch, reading it impossible. I've gotten caught a few times, either forgetting it was off, or thinking it was in the off position and turning it the other way.

I have the same kill switch on the predator on my log splitter.

Mine has a Kohler. Same thing. You have to reach in with one finger to turn it on/off. Since I often shut the gas off and run it dry, I never know if the switch is off or on when I go to start it.
The Kohler on my sawmill has the switch tied in with the throttle.

Right now both engines are out of gas.

Typically the kill switch is just a normally closed switch. They are pretty easy to relocate. And, if you do, you might want to install a normally closed push button switch. hold it in until the engine dies, and as soon as you let go, it is ready to run again.

After cursing the plasma cutter for 5 minutes because it wouldn't cut and changing the torch consumables, I gave up and decided to use the torch.
That's when I discovered I didn't attach the ground clamp.

Recently while mitigating rust and installing aftermarket rocker panel slip covers using stainless steel rivets and polyurethane sealant adhesive drilled through what was left of existing steel rocker with a cobalt bit got thru the steel wasn't being careful and drilled into the wire loom which is ran on the passenger side thru a raceway. Took out my cab marker lights. . That's definitely stupid after the money I put into that truck. Btw on 2016 GMC 2500s the main wiring loom on raceway runs
On passenger side under the plastic door trim. Cobalt bits even duller ones go through steel better than most I feel even if you have to use a little muscle however once you get thru steel and aren't careful will go to thru the plastic raceway and subsequent wire like a hot knife thru butter in milliseconds so I suggest being more careful than I was for sure.
