Stump removal question

/ Stump removal question #11
If you have the time... drill down into it with a large bit, 1" diameter or so / deeper is better than shollow, and fill the holes with fertilizer....then cover the top with yard dirt. The dirt keeps the fertilizer in the holes plus supplies the starter fungi to rot the stump. I used to do this, now I am a backhoe guy...... :)

Hmmm. Add a detonator & diesel. Makes for quick removal. Or consider Pyrodex.:)

I think the key is (unless you want to dig it out) is to kill it good. Here in the PNW, we have lots of maples that love to be cut to the ground, it just sprouts more vines. I finally got wise and made fresh cuts at the base and immediately 'painted' the cut with full strength 'Roundup' super concentrate. Took a couple years but it killed them good and they are rotting out nicely. Of course if you are in a hurry it will be a mechanical job.
