Ha! Yep, maybe I can get them backfilled tomorrow, but we got quite a bit of rain yesterday, so they may be full of water.

It looked like you had some fair sized round rocks in that soil. I thought all Mississippi had was Miss. River delta soil. Yours looks like Arkansas dirt which can be mostly rock in some spots. I think a few million years ago, we had glaciers that dumped rocks in our area. Some times you find areas of 90% rocks and 10 feet away nothing but dirt. Hardly any rocks here are round, most look like crushed limestone. In one 8 foot diameter area, I dug out 3 FEL bucket loads of rocks using my box blade scarifiers to loosen them up. We stopped digging at about 2.5 feet deep but still had large rocks.

Gary, I think what you are seeing is just clumps of clay or maybe thats some roots that you were thinking are rocks. About the only rocks I run into around here are red sandstone. Sometimes I'll get into a vein of that. It almost looks like chunks of rust.

I know you were kidding, but you reminded me of that video of that Senator who thought that putting another runway in on a small island was going to make the island sink due to the added weight. LOL And the voters elect those guys like that and the V.P. who thinks that cattle guards (Canadians call them Texas gates) are people rather than gates.
