Stuck?

Getting stuck is a symptom of inattention, which can lead to far more serious consequences.
The only REAL difference is the consequences - sometimes it is a stuck and muddy tractor, that might be considered funny.
Perhaps a muddy person or two, even more funny.
Sometimes people get seriously hurt trying to get tractors out, not so funny.

Sure, one could cut out the center of the tire lugs to make a chain channel if that makes sense - or put dual rear wheels on and run the chain between those.
Then figure out how to get the chain out from between them - good luck with THAT puzzle.
These are problems MUCH better avoided than "solved".
OTOH, if getting stuck and getting un-stuck are your THING - - go_fer_it.

BTW, I really do NOT care how I am "coming across" on this topic.
I am not a safety freak, but I do regard getting stuck as an accident of the sort that can lead to very serious results.

I would say, you are stuck and I must be a real dumb*** cause I get stuck at least twice a year if not with the JD2320 (rarely) the Zero Turn or garden tractor. Count this year is two already, it's been really wet here. I always seem to get stuck 5000 miles from my next bigger puller outer machine. Now I just call the wife on my cellphone and say "did it again" LOL! she knows.

Getting stuck CAN be a symptom of inattention.

But it can also be a symptom of a few other sets of circumstances that are beyond reasonable operators' ability to predict. Let's say you got tall and/or thick grass that doesn't let you see the dirt at all, and you run into an unexpected muddy spot. Now it could have been prevented if you stop and get off your tractor every two feet to poke the area in front of you with a stick, but no REASONABLE operator is going to do that. If you did it might take you two days to mow an acre.

Saying that getting stuck IS a symptom of inattention, as if there were no other possible circumstances, is insulting to the people who got stuck while they were paying attention.

I learned a long time ago that you can't use logic to deal with illogical people. Unfortunately, it appears to many of us that Reg is illogical on this matter.

He is also smarter than all of us, more experienced than all of us, and better than all of us at everything he does and will ever do regardless of the situation or circumstances. Obviously, we should all worship the ground he walks on, and we should be thankful that he graces us with his presence and all-knowing expert advice on this board :laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing:

All I know is, I'm taking the rear-view backup camera out of our Mustang this weekend and mounting it on the front of my tractor. Goin from a Dumb*** to a Smart*** over the weekend.:thumbsup:

In this case, I just kept working it back and forth, and I used a shovel to clear dirt out where I could. This was one of those situations where a neighbor noticed me get stuck and he offered to pull it out. I figured it wouldn't do anything, but he insisted, so I let him try.

One piece of advice that I've heard from a number of people is to simply leave the tractor sit for a couple days. After the dirt dries up, the tractor will drive right out. I guess this would only work when the ground is only wet for short term due to a lot rain or something.

PART of the reason that works is that the mud on the top half of the tires dries out, it may also drop off but it is probably worth bashing some out from between the tread lugs anyway.
Some of it probably sets under the tires too, providing a near perfect key.

I imagine it must be HARD to just leave it there though, patience being needed.

This thread came to mind today when I saw a junk sickle bar mower sitting on a trailer.
How NICE to drive continuously on already MOWED grass while mowing deep growth on unknown terrain 6 or 7ft to your right side.
OK, so you still have to make a first pass.
You can even reach down steep pond banks, very good places to (NOT) get stuck, or roll over (-:
Though I guess rolling over on a pond bank would NOT be considered funny, that would be a tragic accident.

Sickle bar, disc and drum mowers may be expensive and they don't mulch, but they do have SOME benefits.
I wanna boom mounted flail mower, I wanna trim hedges with it - tops and sides.
