I had them with me again today, even though we are extremely dry, my ponds are fed by springs and we can manage to find a wet spot .... I was the passenger and advised the driver this was not a good idea ... then I decided what better way to prove my point, so I said what ever you think ...

Which one was driving when you got mired? The grandboy or the grandgirl? Great teaching technique, learning from experience.

The grandgirl, the boy jumped in the seat with that big smile as to say I knew she would be the one!! So we got the tractor and the grandgirl got over the so called "told ya" syndrome as she helped pull it out.

FYI, I have 4 grandkids, I try to split them in half by age so I can have more one on two time !!!

That was obviously before the front came howling through. Yesterday, it was in the mid-seventies and this morning it was 20 degrees when I got up. 20 degrees is not that cold, but it sure is after having 75 degrees the previous day. It looks like you found some good use of the fair weather to have fun with your grandkids. When our grandkids come, I make a habit of letting them drive our Kawasaki Mule, tractor, and riding lawnmower. They have nothing like this to do in town. When they realize they can do these things, they just seem to have more confidence and a sense of belonging.

Good for you!!! She'll never forget that!! Nor will she forget how to get herself out. Perfect.

Send this to all your friends that don't allow there kids or grandkids to ride quad's, drive tractors, play hockey or football, have pets, touch 'yucky things', shoot guns, or feed themselves......

I laughed at the title of the thread.... I thought you meant you were 'stuck' as in they were dumped on you and now you can't do what you want to do. That didn't seem very TBN-like. Maybe next weekend you can grab a load of dirt or sand and 'get loaded with the Grandkids'!!!

One thing that always sticks out in my mind, what a super grandfather I had, if I can only be half the grandpa that he was ... these kids will also get some knowledge, wisdom, self-respect and will grow up with morals and values.

Me too. Single biggest influence on my life. I swear that almost all of the skills I have now are indirectly related to my upbringing on the farm, and him. When I say 'skills' I don't mean 'how to weld', but rather 'how to learn to weld'. There's a big difference in that. I'm now an Orthopaedic Surgeon......

Yep ... I was dog tired!! Actually that is my wifes dog, I lost my border collie a few years back and swore I would never have so much love for another dog, it just ain't working. He is everywhere I go, helps sort cattle, hogs, load horse's and sits with the grandkids .... DO NOT TELL MY WIFE ....

Given the size of the smiles I think the only poit you made was "mud is fun"

Not for one minute do I believe that any of you were sorry to be stuck in the mud. Getting stuck is only half the fun; then there's the getting out. By the way, nice looking dog you've got there. Makes me miss my old Australian Shepherd. When she died my wife asked me sincerely what kind of dog I'd like to have. I told her sincerely I'd like to have a ceramic one. They don't shed, don't eat, and don't poop. She ignored my suggestion and got two Daschunds. They are likeable enough dogs, but worthless. I might just find me another Aussie or Border Collie one of these days. One of the smartest dogs I've ever had.

If you are like my grandfather was, the next lesson will be, How to get the mud off. It is good to see kids having fun in the great outdoors.
