hey guys, I got a little ambitous and tried to go somewhere a little early in the season that is still too wet. I got my BX23 stuck in about 12"" of mud. I tried for a little while to put wood under the tires, use the backhoe and loader, but i just managed to dig it in deeper. I was going to go get a winch tomorrow. I was just hoping for some friendly advice

Thanks much

You must not be in Texas. I haven't seen mud in a while. Pictures go a long way here, even on stuck tractors. Any large trees and a winch around?

Well thats what I am gonna try tomorrow. Got too dark. I have to buy a winch and i figured i would get some 2x12's. I can get the whole tractor rear end off the ground so i can get some boards under it. Hopefully that will give me enough pull with the winch after digging out the front axle.

Dig out as much as you can. Usually the biggest snag is the transmission being bottomed out if you're REALLY stuck. Get the wheels a path if possible. When you start pulling, make sure it'll move right away and as easy as possible. One pull gets you moving.

OTHERWISE.

It digs in deeper. Also, MOST of the time, the best way OUT of mud is the way you went IN.

BTDT, got the muddy tee shirt.

Put some long planks under the rear end since you can get it lifted up. Put it back down on them.

Now, place your loader bucket in the full dump position, cutting edge down and back a little toward the front of the tractor.

As you engage the reverse, curl the bucket back to help push along with the pull of the tires.

I have yet to get stuck to where that won't get me out, and I've been all the way to the platform on my CK20. I actually have never even needed the boards under the rears.

If it looks like you could get out by going forward, do the same with the rears as above, but use the loader bucket the opposite way, starting with the bucket up, and use the power dump to pull you foward while you hit the forward gears.

You have less clearance on yours than I do on mine, do I'm not sure if this will work for you, but always has for me.

Try getting a couple of bags of lime and put 1/2 a bag around each tire. This will dry up the ground and you should come rite out. When we get our 6 wheel drive redimix trucks this is how we get them out if we can't get another truck close to it.

Cool. I've never heard that one. I'll have to give it a try if we ever get any rain again, and I can't get out.

I always have some bags of lime around.

Nice suggestion.

I got stuck last week down at our pond. I had some old 2x10's which I put under the front tires, then stuffed some a bunch of old dried dead grass (***** willow leaves), threw it in 4WD and slowly edged out.

I've left the 2x12's down there in case I need them again, but I too always have a few bags of lime around. That's a good suggestion.

In the heat of battle, I sometimes forget to step on the rear differential lock.

Any friends or neighbors around with a larger tractor or 4x4 and a chain? A tow truck could also pull you out. Good luck.
