Stuck in 4WD - NH TC35

[Ghost River Retrievers]

I have a 2003 New Holland TC 35 with just under 700 hrs.
I was doing some FEL work and put it in 4WD, now I cannot get it out of 4WD.
I've had to put in some effort to get out of 4WD when I've done it before, but after a few good pushes down on the bar it came out, but not this time.
Need help.

Have you tried picking the front wheels off the ground with the loader to relieve any stress and then disengaging the four wheel drive?

No, I've not tried that ... didn't even think of it.

Trying driving forward and backwards while maintaining pressure on the shift lever. If that doesn't work try lifting the front wheels with the loader.

It really shouldn't bind that bad in the drivetrain that it can't disengage. Check and ensure you don't have a tire that is especially lower than the rest.
