stuck fuel filter jinma 354

I was trying to replace the fuel filter on my recently aquired jinma 354. I cannot get it to budge. The mount the spin on housing is attached to is bending. I suspect it is rusted on there as the tractor has been sitting outside with little use for 6 years.

Any ideas on how to get it off withoutbreaking something would be appreciated!

I had that problem also at my first filter change. Had to remove the filter and head assembly from the tractor and put it in a vice and use a chain wrench. The filters don't have to be that tight. When you reinstall it put a film of lube oil on the seal surface where it contacts the filter head.

Given the presence of engine oil, I doubt it's rust. The more common problem with these is paint. Rather than paint the block before assembly, they spray the whole **** thing as it goes out the door. I got mine off by driving a screwdriver through the filter canister then putting a cheater pipe on the screwdriver handle. You'll likely have to do the same thing with the fuel filter.

I had the same problem with my 304, and I removed the entire housing and took it to my vise, and then I got right aggressive with it.

Same here for me, Mine (JM284) was right at the point of bending my bracket which is started a bit. I stopped took a small rubber hammer and tapped the (;@p out of it. I put filter wrench back on and still started to bend a bit. At that point I used ball peen hammer and a round bar to ding the top edge some. still would not come loose so I got a dull flat chisel and hammered the top edge about 1/3 way around in a knock it loos direction which got it off. It did break the filter and spilled fuel in the process the thing came off though...

uuuh, is the filter a spin-on, or is it held in place by a small bolt down thru the top of the bracket?

I had trouble, Ron, and mine was a spin on. There is a bleed bolt at the top, but it is only a spin on filter on mine.

For the spin on's a long screwdriver, a smaller chisel and a good hammer f
Should do the job.:thumbsup:

Course if there is room a long handle will Work wonders.
