Street Views?

I agree. A bit alarming to see isn't it. When mine was filmed I was weedeating. My house is 100yds off the hiway. But I can clearly be seen, as well as anything else that's parked outside.

Ask yourself this:

Why does Google spend 10's of million of dollars on street and aerial views? Why do they have an army of cars canvassing the country photographing everybody and everything?

When I look at Google maps, there's no there's no ads on the side to click on
So: Why? Who are they doing it for?

Now consider who else Google is in bed with and every other piece of data about you they capture/share.

Google is doing this because it adds value to services they sell. If you want to scare yourself think about what happens when public support approves Gov't taking over Google.

I know for a fact that the gov. at all levels use Google Earth and street view. It is used for planning and law enforcement. GE Pro was for a fee. Now free.
Where is GE getting the money for the satellites and all the employees that photo and edit the photos?

Google sell the data. What cars are seen, what yard art you have, what stuff is in your backyard. The people who make that stuff want to know where it is and how many are using it. The data collected by Google is minable. In other words the date can be searched by subject.

With GE Pro you can get the before and after shots of property. In my case the pic taken in 2011 and again in 2013 shows the new trees I planted, hot tub, landscaping, canoe. Everything.

If you use a web site that uses recaptcha for authentication etc. you will now notice that the image is of a house or building number. Google bought recaptcha in 2009 and used it to fix the OCR for the Google Books project. Now it looks like they are going through the GE street views and identifying every address where an image of a building or house number appears.

True that!!! I heard a blurb on the news about that last week. Government saying the Internet needs to be controlled by them, since we are obviously too stupid to control anything like that in the free enterprise system.....

Google blurs the peoples faces to what they put on the internet but they can run their facial recognition if they want to. They can also recognize all the cars in front of your house, the value of your things, the brands of the stuff you buy. So many companies will buy that data, even considering how much the free market will pay for it -- it's almost 'free' even with the cost of satellites and their army of camera cars.

Thanks Bruce, Moss was being too coy. Gotta save this one before they blur it further.

What is blurred by software can be un-blurred. Blurring is mathematical manipulation of the data. Reverse the math and you have the original pic.

Yes only blurred for the public view.

Google is getting too big and will rival governmental power. I think it's a good government's responsibility to that prevent that (,,,, a very wishful way of thinking). Think of how much money is spent on Google satellites for example. A same size budget devoted to manipulate public opinion could easily fund a TV network for example.

Not a matter of people being stupid, people make good decisions but their information has been masterfully tailored, they couldn't possibly know better. I don't think there is a way out of this - you old fellas are the only ones who will escape.
