Made this for a strawberry planter.
It's got 10 pockets around it, and I figure I'll plant 5 more on top. As an easy way to water it all evenly, I plan to bury a PVC pipe down the center... probably 1' from the bottom with a cap on the bottom. I'll drill holes throughout and place a cap on top between waterings to keep bugs and critters out. Here's my question; what size PVC should I use? How many holes and what size? Ideally, I'd fill the pipe and walk away. Done. Too small and I'd have to wait and re-fill... too big and water will run out. I've got 2, 3, and 4" PVC kicking around. Just need to buy the caps. Also, should I wrap it in landscape fabric?
I'm 100% new to gardening. This will be my main planter;
It's 16'x4'. 1.5' deep. East side of the house. I've got a tandem load of "garden soil" coming around the 20th of may. 50% topsoil, 50% compost. I've got my seeds; tomatoes, peas, yellow beans, cucumbers, lettuce, onion, green onion, garlic, brocolini, and carrots. Wish me luck!
Edit; the tomatoes will actually be coming later and are already started in pots. I've got some netting that will be going on the back 4' up for the tomatoes, peas, cucumbers and yellow beans to climb.
