No, just while eating.
She can go lie down and pass gas after eating. Like me.

Have you ever seen a dog put a dead rabbit on a little table before eating it??? No.

There are a couple of studies out there that question the value of raised feeders and show they may promote bloating. Best to consult your vet.

It may help with dogs that have physical problems bending down, but for the most part, nothing shows they are beneficial to already healthy dogs.

Our dogs would rather eat off the floor, so much so that they will take food out of their dish and set it on the floor to eat.

This is the most "first world" debate I've heard in awhile. No way are folks in sub-Saharin Africa, or your own depression-era forefathers, debating the ideal serving height for their dog's food bowl.

Question for you fellow terror owners: we have a Boston Terrier, 2 years old, that wants to play more hours per day than we have time to entertain it, or at times we’re just not available. It seems a second dog is in order, so she has a playmate.

We’ve done the dual dog thing before, we had two mini Pinschers at the same time previously, but although they just passed two years ago, it has been too many years since they were young pups for me to remember how advantageous or painful that was.

We have two adoption candidates, both 2 - 4 years old, one being another female Boston terrier and the other a French bulldog. The frenchie is a true couch potato, just wants to sleep or cuddle all day, the Boston terrier is the typical terror.

So, the question is, which would be a better playmate for our dog, and either have an overall calming effect on her, or give her someone to play with when we cannot?

I’m leaning toward the second Boston, but worry it might increase rather than decrease our overall time commitment. On the flip side, the couch potato may displace our present dog’s evening cuddle time with the kids, which could have a detrimental effect.

My two cents is that the dogs need to have the same energy level, character and size Breed certainly will impact energy level, character and size but age is important too.

So, my vote would be the terrier since they are of similar age and energy level, size, and character.

Drones will freak out my German shepherd.

I kept hearing a buzzing sound but couldn't see it at first.

Boy the hackles stood up on gypsy's back, and she was looking at it and growling.

Thats when I looked up and realized it was a drone.

Then we were off!!!! I got dragged back home. She was having none of that mess

Friend of mine was over, and he brought his new very spendy drone with him. He was showing some of the things that he was capable of doing with it . . . and he noticed how my dog (Ausie) was reacting to it, so the lame brain started teasing him with it . . . now my Ausie is very much a working dog (cattle) well, I told him that he had better knock it off, he didn't, and when he swooped it down again my dog grabbed it out of the air and crushed it in his mouth dropped it when I told him to and came over to my side and sat . . .

Friend of mine was over, and he brought his new very spendy drone with him. He was showing some of the things that he was capable of doing with it . . . and he noticed how my dog (Ausie) was reacting to it, so the lame brain started teasing him with it . . . now my Ausie is very much a working dog (cattle) well, I told him that he had better knock it off, he didn't, and when he swooped it down again my dog grabbed it out of the air and crushed it in his mouth dropped it when I told him to and came over to my side and sat . . .

Another reason I like dogs more than most people.

The first time I worked in NY we were staying at a little inn in the Adirondacks. The owner liked my dog and would go get her if I left her in my room. One night she was laying on the floor minding her own business chewing on a bone. Someone thought he'd impress the waitress by teasing my dog, and tried to take her bone.
It was the only time in 14 years that she ever snarled at anybody; also the only tims in my life I ever levitated. One second I was sitting at the bar; the next I was 10 feet away and had lifted her off the floor by the scruff of her neck. "You -do-not-growl-at-people!"
He even said it was his fault. Furthermore
I should have intervened sooner. But if she wanted to hang out in public places she had to understand that some people are a-holes but she's just a dog. Otherwise she can stay in the truck.

I had a lab mix that ate laying down behind the food bowl. For him it was a learned trait because if he laid down the other dogs wouldn't growl or try to attack him..

My German shepherd is very much a people pooch. Everybody is her friend, and she's never met a stranger.

She was trained extensively to not be food or treat aggressive. We have had young grandkids her whole life.

We also had her professionally trained, by kids. Random kids were her handlers including my grandkidsz the neighbors grandkids and strangers kids. All under the supervision of a trainer.

She's snarled at one person in 10 years.

It was a linesman running new cable through the neighborhood. He was in the back of the truck. Stated that he never met a pooch that didn't like him.

He jumped out of the truck, took three steps toward her with hid hand out.

She turned and put her body blocking me and let a snarl that sounded like it resonated from her toenails

Everybody clenched at that moment and the dude levitate back into his truck

She's in love with her Uncle Daren I pretty much did the same thing with Sasha that I'd did with Jack when my wife and I started dating.

I've been walking Sasha and giving her lovings since Denise doesn't exercise her enough. Especially since it's hot.

She especially loves going for walks with Gypsy. They've been on a couple walks now without issues. So Sasha will probably be sleeping inside pretty soon

I plan to get a puppy next month and am considering the AKC "good citizen" course.
My mother moved into assisted living last fall and if we get good enough I would like to bring the dog to see her. Considering she's 4 hours away it would make the trip a bit more worthwhile.

She's a love bug and cuddle muffin. And mouthy!!!!!

She definitely has the husky attitude and is a chatty Kathy

She gets overly hyper if you go out in the pen. It helps to pick up one of her squeeky toys and start squeeking it.

It triggers the zoomies and she burns off some excess energy.

If i take gypsy out with me, she calms down considerably though and easier to manage.

At least she's got a 1/2 acre pen to run in instead of a little 20ft run she had before.

Loves watching the deer. She's got a doe and twin fawns that have been hanging out with her almost nightly.

My current dog will catch a squirrel and want you to hold it while he eats it.

Common gray squirrel, or something else?

I've been watching mine and other dogs chase squirrels my whole life. But never once have I ever seen a dog manage to actually catch one. Our local squirrels seem to be faster, more agile, and maybe even a little smarter than most dogs.

That said, I have seen squirrels fall out of trees at least twice I can remember. One time, mom and I were raking leaves in the back yard, our property was covered in absolutely massive 3' diameter oaks. We heard something crashing down thru the layers of tree canopy over our heads, and both instinctively ducked, expecting a broken branch was making it's way down toward us. A second or three later, a squirrel landed on the ground next to my mother.

Definitely. Gypsy is pretty much therapy trained. We just couldn't afford to finish up the training at the time. It would have been another 6 weeks and $1500 we didn't have at the time.

Then we got busy, so we never got her back for it.

You should have seen her with an elderly lady that lived in the same rental neighborhood as us.

She had a stroke and was partially paralyzed.

If she saw us out walking, she would yell "Hey big lady!!!!! Come see me!!"

And off we would go, me getting dragged over to her

Gypsy would go straight to the side where she was partially paralyzed on and lean against her supporting her while whe got her scratches.

She also had the "Gypsy girl fan club"

It was some of the neighborhood kids that would come running to see her when we were out.

Those were gypsy's kids, and you didn't mess with them while she was around.

She put herself between the neighbors girls and their uncle once while we were out walking.

He made the mistake of stalking the girls while they were petting her.

She put herself between the uncle and the kids. She didn't growl, but she did bristle up.

The kids parents witnessed it. Called the uncle offz and then came and gave Gypsy treats and scratches.

They appreciated the fact the Gypsy would protect them.
