My ex-wife and I had a German Shepherd, Cocker Spaniel and a stray male cat. On weekends, because I didn't wake up early enough the cat would sit on chest and slap my nose until I woke up

then run like crazy to the basement for food. The Cocker would kill you for an apple, Shepherd didn't like them at all.

The back door of the house went into the attached garage and to the right was the man door to the garage. It was glass at the top half, the cat would jump up with its front paws and hang on the window

ledge and make noise until someone let him in.

At a earlier house we rented there was a in ground pool. It had a partial deck on it and my dogs used to go under there where it was cooler. One day the Cocker almost bit me, any time I go near him he

wants to bite. Took him to the Vet and he had an infection in his ***** sheath. Vet told me to take this salve and put it in there and massage it in. First couple of times I did it we put a sock over his mouth

so he wouldn't bite us. After that I would call him, he run over to me lay on his back, let his head and legs fall down and wait for me do my thing. Little bugger liked it too much!

Many years ago, a female roommate of mine had a longhaired cat that loved to play with drips on faucets. All was well until someone lit a candle near the bathroom sink and the cat's tail caught fire. Try catching a cat with it's tail on fire, it ain't easy!

Our Poogle (poodle-beagle mix) loves it when I give him a little pinch of home baked cookie. He can be sound asleep, and the second he hears me get a bowl out of the cabinet he springs wide awake, barking like mad, wanting his share.
When my wife has a batch in the oven and the timer goes off, he starts barking to alert us....mustn't let the cookies burn.

My dog sucks at driving, too.... Not a DD...

Only one of my dogs has legs long enough to reach the pedals and that one insists on being a back seat driver. She will not go in the front seat, no matter what. So I am wondering just how the 3 amigas (all girls) would do at driving.

That looks the pre wash cycle on our dishwasher!

I have gotten in the habit of putting my dinner plate on the floor for our dog to lick clean. She thinks she's getting special treatment and the plate ends up spotless and gives the dishwasher a head start. Win win.

Just dont forget to put it in the dishwasher before it goes in the kitchen cabinet!

John went to visit his 90 year old grandfather in a very secluded, rural area of Alabama.
After spending a great evening chatting the night away, in the morning, John's grandfather prepared a breakfast of bacon, eggs and toast.
However, John noticed a film like substance on his plate and questioned his grandfather asking, "Are these plates clean?"
His grandfather replied, "They're as clean as cold water can get them. Just you go ahead and finish your meal."
For lunch the old man made hamburgers.
Again, John was concerned about the plates, as his appeared to have tiny specks around the edge that looked like dried egg and asked, "Are you sure these plates are clean?"
Without looking up the old man said, "I told you before, those dishes are as clean as cold water can get them. Now don't you fret, I don't want to hear another word about it!"
Later that afternoon, as John was leaving, his grandfather's dog started to growl and wouldn't let him pass.
John yelled, "Grandfather, your dog won't let me get to my car."
Without taking his eyes off the football he was watching on TV, the old man shouted...
"COLDWATER, GO LAY DOWN!!!!"

That COLDWATER brought back memories.

When as teens we were building our cabin we had minimal facilities, much less a dishwasher or even hot water.
We'd put those breakfast plates with dry egg and baked bens into the lake to soak.

Well the minnows cleaned those dishes just as clean as as my new dishwasher today!

^^^ reminds me of Maggot Debridement Therapy (MDT), which involves the use of live maggots to clean wounds

Good reason to keep some pet maggots around if it wasnt for the lifecycle of a maggot

My COLDWATER loves to chew on a juicy roadapple in the pasture and he picks up a few cat piles from time to time. I don't let him near my dishes. He would rather be outside any way.

Hey, if you don't mind dog germs it could probably go back in the cabinet!

Actually that works really well for getting rid of gate crashers that keep showing up for a visit during dinner time.

After dinner, let the dog lick the plate clean. Then place the plate back in the cupboard. Repeat with the rest of the dishes.

Granted your dishwasher will be working over time after the person leaves. But usually works really well for someone constantly inviting themselves to dinner.

Mom did that once when a family friend kept doing that. The person would never eat at our house again.

Part that stunk, was this was in the early 80's so the dishwasher was my brother and I

Beagle Bailey gives me the stink-eye starting at 10:30pm to let me know it's my bedtime. Since the Time change, the stink-eye now begins at 9:30pm. Smart Dog!

Ruger likes to lay in the kitchen by the door, either to soak up heat from the woodstove or to make sure that I don't sneak out without him. When I start brushing my teeth he gets up and goes to bed.

We have a lot of animal photographs the wife has taken and had them turned in to large metal prints. The Beagle spends a lot of time staring intently at each of these prints. Coyote, Lynx, Porcupine, Fox and Wolves. His favorites are the Fox that he got to play with when he was a puppy.

Our old jack russle terrier was a Houdini when it came to getting out of the yard.

He kept digging under the fence, so I spent a weekend with a spade lowering the fence and burying it 6" in the ground. Mind you we all know how rough it is during a hot dry summer with clay for soil.

Monday night he was in the yard when I got home. Every night for the rest of the week, he was in the yard when I got home.

Well at this point I was feeling really good about getting the issue licked and keeping him in the yard.

My atta boys came to a crashing halt when my neighbors wife cornered me on Saturday while I was working in the yard.

She came up to me and asked while laughing "Do you know what that little a**hole is doing??".

I asked her if she could explain. Well come to find out Jack would climb over the fence to get out. He would then spend the day making his rounds, visiting the neighbors, getting his scratches, ect.......

At 3:30 (I got home shortly after 4) He would go get my neighbors wife. He would then escort her from their yard to ours, right up to the gate. She would then let him back into the yard. This way he would avoid getting in trouble when I got home
