"Ellie" was a kitten we rescued on a cold rainy night. She was full of fleas and we cleaned her up, showed her where the food and water was. She was a barn cat. And not really a domestic cat. She had, I think, a great 10 years, sometimes being involved with people. She was more about being a cat, and doing cat things. She was starting to have health issues.
In the middle of one night, I awake, and Ellie is kissing me all over the face and purring. She had never done this before. And was rarely in the house to do so. Later find out Ellie had done the same to my then partner about the same time. It was a strange experience. We never saw her again after that day. I think she was say'en "Goodby and Thank You."
