Strange Characters in post's lately?

There seems to be allot of strange garbled characters showing up in post's the last couple days...

Any reason

My guess is the post was created in a word processor then copied into a post. A web site doesn't recognize special formatting from a word processor. If people want to create responses like this they should use a text editor like Notepad, not a word processor.

I'd agree. We had similar problems with quote marks several years ago, as I recall.

I noticed some strange characters in a post I wrote yesterday after I had edited it.

It looked as if it had taken out the brackets and put in something that looked like i'[: instead.

I went back and edited it again and got rid of them and then it was fine again

Some of the posts I've seen with weird stuff, if you look at the date thread was started, are usually a couple years old, then someone bumps them up by posting to them, and they end up with strange characters. I think with all the new folks joining TBN, they read a post and respond to it without thinking how old the post actually is.

I am a bit late to see this post but I have been having problems. As Mike guessed I do compose my posts on Microsoft Word and then copy and paste. I’ve always done it that way and until a couple of weeks ago there was never a problem. Has something changed on the forums side of things or is there something happening on my end. Here is an example where quotation marks come out distorted.

Well sorry, my copy and paste came through fine this time and it would not allow me to edit the post. Earlier today I sent a PM where the strange characters did appear where quotation marks were used.
