Straighten my drive

My drive is 15 years old gets wide in some spots and narrow in others. It also has unwanted bends. How do I get a nice straight 12 foot wide drive?

Buy a 12' wide front box blade, set a pair of road flares 1/4 mile ahead of you and line them up. Never back up: keep going straight. You could probably also use the North star if you can operate at night. Go fast though, the Earth rotates and could put a light arc in your line.

I think the north star could work but the drive runs east/west. I might try the flares though.

depends on length of drive -- use t-posts and fence wire to give you a guide line down one or both sides if it's not too long.

Get a laser level, point it at your mailbox, attach a piece of cardboard to your tractor that you can see from the drivers seat, paint a bulleye on it. While grading , keep the little red dot on the bullseye.

When you get to the end your mailbox will be in the middle of your 12" drive, move mailbox 7 feet to the right or left.

Since you are getting a lot of "help", here's mine: Plant two rows of trees along either side of your proposed drive. Then grade between them.
