I bought a shelterlogic 20x12 last fall. Total PITA to assemble. But it was money well spent. I ordered mine with double doors and it was heavy duty. I choose the anchor kit that is drivin into the ground and was told it would be fine. Well this past winter the wind picked up to around 70mph gusts and I went out to check on the shelter. It was fine and not moving around too much. I checked all the tie downs to make sure they were good. The next morning I woke up looked out and it was in pieces. The cable supplied with the anchors had snapped and sent the shelter air bourne and crushed it beyond repair. I ended up dimantling what I could and threw it in the trash. I will buy another this year and anchor as if I was building a house. The only other concern I had was mice. I didn't store my tractor in it althought that's why I bought it. I had all the toys in the garage in there and the tractor was safe in the garage. I hope this helps

I've had that model shelter logic for two years now and it has been great. My son is building a 49 Chevrolet pickup street rod in it and it has been real nice. You have to get the vents at either end or you will get condensation. Also I took a little extra time and where the joints come together I put a heavy duty pop rivet in each joint as we were assembling it so it would not fall apart as we were going along. My son thought I was nuts, but it worked really well and makes it much sturdier. Also added the end braces which they say you don't need but they through in for no cost. Those really stiffen it up. Both of those little tips probably will make it a little sturdier in a high wind. We have had about 60-70 mile winds since we put it up and no problems. A hurricane would be another story that I'm not looking forward to. Also try to position it so that the ends are not facing the prevailng. winds, but face the sides into the wind. I think that will help some. Make sure you use the duckbill anchors and you might even want to use two sets. When you are buying they will throw things in to make the deal. You can buy these on ebay but I got mine at the Big E ( the Springfield Fair every Sept in Springfield Mass.) They have specials usually. Good luck....

I have a few tube frame open sided tarp covered 'carports' that i park my tractors under... Keeps the sun and most of the elements off of them... seems to work pretty good on the cheap.. etc..

Around here you can get a portable carport, like from the big box stores for aropund $600.00 for a single car. The roof would be more durable and I think you could add some purlings later on and close it in. Once that fabric rips what ever you paid is down the drain.

Just my 2 pennies worth, EL.

I have a portable shelter I bought a few months ago. It is 14 x 46 x 16 high. The gentleman who had it bought it to store his RV in. He had it next to his garage. He lived on top of a small mountain with constant winds. It did lift once and hit his RV and did some damage. I am in the process of leveling a area to put it up on. I have decide to put mine on a cement pad. The pad will be 20 x 50. I will anchor it in the cement. I will store my tractor and all my attachments in it. I paid $1000.00 for it. It is pretty heavy pipe to hold it together. It will be a way at least to get my stuff out of the weather and a semi comfortable place to work on things until I put up a "real" garage.

I have a clearspan and my buddy has had one for 5 years, moved it and it is holding up great. The biggest problem for me is going threw the pain of rolling the door up in the winter.

Hi Builder,
Economical temporary storage units can vary in price depending how "temporary" it is. Unless it is fully sealed and insulated and a concrete floor, they all give approximately the same protection to a degree. So the question I had was what am I gaining for the extra cost?

I use my temporary tent to keep the tractor out of the direct sun, rain, dust and view until my barn is built.
These are photos of my friend Larry inside the canopies. One is for my tractor and another for implements. I even have one for a work shop too. They are fully enclosed with zippered doors that you have to roll up. I got them at Pep Boys for $79 bucks each. I've been using them for 3 years now!
