good question, wonder how they handle that when its on a ship crossing the oceans?
Also, i was thinking of burying one of these for an underground shelter, anyone had any experience with that?
Funny you should say that. I went to look at a property the other day and one of the features was a container buried under the garage floor. It had a trapdoor and a fairly steep ladder down into it.
It had electric light so I went down into it and noticed that there must be considerable pressure on the sides of the container as they were bulging inwards. If you did decide to do it I would be putting extra external cladding for strength before backfilling it in. The guy that buried it was supposedly an engineer so I thought he would have known better.
Apart from that it was clean and cool and dry.
I actually own 2 containers that are the newest design and love them. One is my hobby shop and the other stores the XUV buggy.
We were lucky as the containers only did one trip from China to Oz with explosives in them and had been lined internally with ply. They were in perfect order. Apparently the cost to return and re-use them is prohibitive so they sell them.
They also came with the shipping docket and the ship they came on had been held by pirates for a lengthy time and had only just been released and this appears to have been its' first trip since then.
