had my rotary plow next to myt shed, someone stole it, had a hunch though.... went to local scrap yard, and low and behold there it was. told the owner, he gave it back. he does not remember who brought it there as for it probably came in on a trailer loaded with junk.... so back in business now

The scrap yard owner prolly didn't want to disclose his knowledge and identification of his suppliers. I've always figured these guys gotta know more than they let on. Playing dumb is the best defense for them.
Same goes for those thieves who steel copper wiring and pipe from new houses. The scrap dealers know where this stuff comes from and who keeps bringing it to them.

Sounds like you were real lucky...

Here in Spain the same thing is happening - farmers here have always been hapy to leave ploughs etc in the fields - just hitch onto them when they need them, but with the price of Scrap being so good, gangs are going round from field to field steeling them. We now keep all of our equipment locked up at night, or at least locked inside customers yards....
