Stock water tank, electric de-icer voltage ?

Good luck. It's not a perfect fix.. but as long as the animals drink.. it will get yo by till you figure out the real problem.

I leave the ground wire in mine full time 'just in case' my tank de-icer ever does develop a leak.. ( and yes.. occasionally Florida does need a de-icer. Just a couple weeks ago a basin that had some water in it in the cow pasture managed to make 1.5" of ice on the top of the water! )

Somehow I missed this thread. Please let us know what you do find. Which de-icer do you have? I bought the 1250w floater from TSC (twice ). The first one lasted about 1-1/2 months.

Hello Torin....

We got the drain hole style, but it wouldn't fit in the brand new stock tank drain hole. ..So I drilled the proper sized hole a few inches over and put the plug back in, it's a rubbermaid style. TSC had a dozen of the de-icers, so we thought they'd be fine..Oh well that's what we get for thinking ..

Once I get the grounding problem figured out I will let ya know..got a list of projects though, all of them need to be done yesterday

Quality may be hit or miss. I've had my blue plastic and metal de-icer from TSC for ? 7ys now.. still works.. and no problems..yet.. though i still leave the wire in there so i don't come home to find animals staring at the water tank and afraid of it..

That's a good idea and I think I'll do the same once the ground thaws.
