I'm in the market for a stock trailer. I'm looking at 14k 20'x6'8" pipe top with brush fenders, single rear gate with slider, etc. Any brad recommendations? I'm looking at WW, CM and Gooseneck. I'm in Texas, so having a local dealer is required.

Thanks!

Gooseneck has been building trailers for a long time. You can get them in steel or aluminum.

I have owned WW and they are good trailers, but the Gooseneck I have now is really well built and a better trailer IMO. I have no experience with the CM. Mine is a 24'x 6'8" pipe top with 2 7000 lb torsion axles and the butterfly gates. Compare the way the cut gates are mounted on the Gooseneck compared to the WW. Also the trailer seems better built overall.

All are good trailers, and I've had some of each. But if you look close CM has several features that make it a better trailer (not the lowest price), such as grease fittings on all hindges/pivots, more cross braces under the floor and across the top, and all wires run in conduit. If you're going to keep it a long time or use it hard and often, CM will serve you well. (I'M not a dealer or stock holder).

Gary,
You can't go wrong with these folks and they are not too far from you. They are the only local CM franchised dealer in the local area. Kempner Equipment, Inc.
I've known them for about 6 years now and I can assure you they have the best prices around. Oh yes, I am also their Webmaster and a customer.

Heck, I can't even get a buddy discount for me. Did you talk to Kevin or Cory? Both are good guys and will treat you right. Let us know how it turns out.

I talked to Kevin. Seems to know his stuff. I hear good things about these folks. Still, it's a lot of money to buy a new cattle trailer.

You are right about that, Gary. Anything new and made of steel costs a lot of $$$$ these days. I'm glad you went by. Have you gone to the Web site that PaulChristensen recommended? I found a nice used 16' X 6'6" CM Stocker on it. Had to drive 5 hours, one way, to get it. But, that was before diesel went to $4 a gallon.

Heres is the link to guy I got my last one from. He is quite a ways from you, but it will give you something to compare prices to at least.

Yes, I went to that site and spent quite some time looking at it. Still didn't find what I was looking for though. Decision, decisions...

Are you refering to the Big Tex place on I-30 in Mt. Pleasant? I haven't been that way in a while and wasn't aware of too many stock trailer places there. Do you remember any of the names? Thanks

I drove to Mt Pleasant, Big Tex http://www.trailersdirectonline.com/index.shtml, for my used CM Stocker, but, then diesel was less than $3 per gallon. It was a 5 hour drive one-way from my place. Factor that into the price.
Good luck with your search. It only took me a year to find the one I wanted.

Well, the search is over. I gave up on finding a decent used one or a low priced "fixe-r-up-r". Ended up with a new 20'x6'8" CM bar top from Kempner Equipment in central Texas. It was painfull to spend that much money, but this one should last a while. Sure do like their quality.

Hey John,

Yep, kind of looks like your building. Couldn't be the same builder now could it!

I figured you would end up going back to Kempner Equipment. You made two good choices. You are right, CM makes a nice trailer.
