What do you do with a sticking pedal on the BX tractor besides grease it to fix this problem? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You can tighten the spring....one end attaches to a threaded rod...This might help some

Is it actually the pedal sticking on the pivot or the linkage back to the transmission ????

There were some posts on this same issue a while back. If'n my memory serves correctly there are some factory tolerences that are too tight creating the problem. Can't remember the exact fix but the dealer should.

Junkman... When my hydro pedal started sticking I called Kubota and also sent them an Email (see below). When I talked to the dealer about it they said that they had other BX's with the problem and were never able to fix it.

I took my tractor into the dealer last June to have the hydro pedal adjusted according to the service bulletin. A week or so after I got it back from the dealer the pedal started to stick again. The dealer told me to bring it back but they didn't know what else could be done for the problem. I haven't taken it back to them yet; I have no confidence that they will fix it.

Here is my communications with Kubota...

( Hello Mr. Engwer. Thank you for calling Kubota. We have no record of any inquiries on your tractor from your dealer. Please get the tractor back to them so that they can diagnose and repair the unit as needed. We recently issued a service bulletin to show them the proper method of adjustment. If they still can't get it corrected, they should call us or their Kubota Service Representative.

Comments: Over the weekend I had a problem develop with my BX2200 that is of concern to me. I was mowing grass, traveling down a slope. As I approached the bottom of the slope near an embankment I let off on the speed control to slow my speed to make a turn and the speed pedal stuck in
the full forward position (low range). Fortunately I was able to recover by pushing back on the speed pedal but I came very close to the edge of the embankment. I took the tractor back to my garage and inspected the speed control pivot points and linkage. I cannot see where it is binding. I applied more grease through the zerk fitting and it seemed to be OK. I
used the tractor for a couple of hours on Sunday and the problem occurred again.

On Monday I called my dealer and Service Rep. said that she has had other complaints of sticking speed controls but has no fix at this time. She saidthat she would call Kubota to find out what to do next. I did not here from her yesterday so I called her back a short while ago. She said that she contacted you (Kubota) and has not heard back.

Could you please look into this matter? I checked on the Internet and found out that this is a chronic problem that has been reported many times. I think that you should view this as a serious safety issue and give a high priority to finding a resolution. Kubota should also send an alert to all BX owners notifying them that this problem exists.

My BX2200 has about 40 hours of operation.)

I wonder if polishing the pedal shaft and then greasing it might help? My B2400 pedal was sticking and that's the change that fixed it.

What type of wax did you use?

J-man --

Did you see the post by DannyD in the thread "Bx 2200 air filter strap went hate to ask..." in this forum? Sounds as if there is something that can be done inside the transmission. Here is what he said:

"Hey mine did that, BX2200. The dealer here replaced some bearings in the transmission (after the second time) and said that Kubota alerted them to this problem. (sticky pedal). Mine only had like 25 hours on it. It was fixed correctly the second time."

Here is the link:

Link to filter strap / hydro pedal discussion.

Hope that helps. (Just turned over 60 hours on the BX23 today!)

earlier posts indicated that the pedal was not
actually sticking , but something about the linkage
at the trans not being adjusted correctly.
i remember something about jacking up rear wheels
and making adj under seat till the wheel stop turning.

Junkman,

Do you actually mean sticking, or slow to return to center?

Mine was slow to return to center, so that when I would lift my foot off the pedal, instead of the almost neck snapping stop that I had at first, the tractor was drifting to a stop over a distance of somewhere between 3 and 10 feet, depending on speed and my memory... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I sprayed everything pretty good with something I had on hand, LPS2 or WD40 or something similar, again can't remember, and ever since I have to be careful not to lift my foot off the directional pedal too quickly, it stops so quick.

I lubed it at the end of summer sometime and even with only weekly use, or less, it remains the same now.

So I wonder if there are two issues: Pedal stick & slow pedal return? With pedal stick being the more serious of the two...
