That hay wagon is great!! You wouldn't happen to have any drawings or plans for that would you? Great size for grand kids and hay rides.

This is what I use with about 20 oak and maple trees. You have to judge which ones to pick up by hand.If there over 5 foot or green wood that won't break easily I hand pick but 90 % the sweeper will pick up.

Start planting to replace the poplars. It takes time but it's worth it.

I'll catch flak for this but I burn them.I did have a trac vac that mulched the leaves but couldn't pick up sticks and it just took too long.I've tried mowing them but there are soo many it was wearing the blades out fast and I've even wore a hole through the discharge part of deck.Plus I would have to pick up sticks. This unit picks up the sticks, acorns, and small animals if they get in the way.lol

Ya, it's in the works. There's 2 rows of them down my lane on 20 ft or so centers. Half of them were missing when we bought 2.5 yrs ago but most of the rest are in great health. Maples are going in in their place. One side of the lane is only 20 ft from the property line so not much room to plant the replacements. Canadian Tire in July is a great place to by trees when they are trying to close down the garden center. I've been buying the 12' $80 maples for $10 each for years.

It's sounding like the landscape rake might be the best way to go for me, especially given other possible uses for it. I've got a lot of them that are in between small enough to mulch and big enough to easily pick up by hand.

Leaves aren't an issue for me as there's enough wind here that they seem to get all bunched up in one 50' x 50' area. Only takes an hour or so to use the leaf blower to put them into a pile then haul them with the tractor to the compost pile.

The pinestraw rake is cheap enough to have along with a landscape rake too. I have both and find that both types have their benefits. I would not want to run a landscape rake on a finished lawn but the pine straw rake is ideal for those jobs with small sticks and needles. Neither one is good for leaves that is a job for a vacuum or blower depending on the situation.

For a small area I agree with Bullitt pick them up and hand rake.

Very nice. I did my place in Greely 20 some years ago. People shook their heads at my little trees and the last poplar I cut down. It didn't take long to come around with nice colours in the fall and shade in the summer.
Around here I planted ash and maple 10 years ago in preparation to eliminate the poplars. The ash is going to be a bust because of the borer so the poplars will be around a while longer. Lesson learned, diversity is the way to go.

Tig/Steve.....What species of Poplar are you talking about? I've planted the Lombardy here where many mature dead pines were growing. I know they grow fast and don't live that long but neither will I.:D For Sycamore and Walnut leaves/branches, the wind blows most of them under the surrounding Cedar hedge. Sometimes I get around to shredding/chipping the whole mess.
