Steph kills again!!!!!!

This evening after Steph got home, we walked down to the lake site. Just as we got there I spotted two deer out feeding. Then two more joined them. It was fun to watch, but they were too far away for pictures. We also had her five year old son with us, so knew it was impossible to sneak up any closer.

After awhile, a good sized hog joined the deer!!

It was 95 degrees out today and probably in the high 80's when it walked out into the open and I didn't bring my rifle with me. Just the camera and binoculars. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

We quickly went back to the house, got my .30-06 and went over the rules several times with her son. No talking, stay behind us, hands on ears and when told to stay put, to stay exactly in that spot!!!

We had to do a little manuvering because the hog kept changing positions. It went out into the open, turned around and got into the thick stuff, then back out again. At one point it looked like it was gonna walk right to us, but it changed direction again.

I put Steph on a nice oak tree for the shot.

Her son and I covered our ears and waited. He's only five, and this was his first time seeing a real hunt actually happen right in front of him.

At about 70 yards she fired. Same as the last hog. One shot and it was down and dead!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Her son weighs 50 pounds and the hog is easily three times the size of him!! If she keeps this up, the next one will be too big for me to move around. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm extremly proud of her. The first time could have been luck, but the second time means she's for real.

Great shooting Steph! Did that 30-06 kick you like a mule?

Down south here, you used to could get maybe $75 for a hog like that. Now that they are so common, they usually bring less than $50. The smaller ones are great for big party type BBQ's or a Hawaiian Luau.
