Somehow I bent the right step on my XR4046H, not just bent, folded it flat.:( I almost never use the right step, and was wondering about replacing it with a tool box or something. I am afraid to call the dealer and find out how much a new step cost...

Any ideas??

Thanks for the link, I was pretty sure someone on here had done that and searched quite a while and couldn't find it....
I called the dealer and he has had one hanging on the wall for a long time and said I could have for $25.00. I will buy it and hang it on my wall in case I need it and I'm going to try to do the nvmyhad modification. The factory tool box doesn't hold much of anything.

BTW what is the fold out compartment on the back of the seat for??

I'm in the timber a lot with my tractors. Steps take the brunt of it. Make sure your toolbox addition is strong.

Usually the seat compartment is for the Operator's Manual.

That is where you can put your operators manual so it is available when needed. I think all tractors have the little plastic tray on the seat. I keep my manuals for my tractors in my gun safe so they don't get lost. I do keep the repair manual for my Goldwing and both my lawn mowers in a storage drawer in my shop. Those I might need more often than OEM for tractors.

If you keep your tractor books in your gun safe, do you keep a gun in the seat pocket?

I gave up counting how many times I've bent either of my steps and, Yes, they're expensive.

I just wrapped a chain around a tree and the step. Then backed up till the next time I meet a log or some other immovable object.

We just straighten ours out as they get bent every once in a while. Sometimes it can be done on the tractor, ie chain and tree etc. and sometimes they have to be taken off they are very expensive to replace.
