Steering wheel removal on a 1975 255

I took the big nut off under the cap expecting to see a couple puller holes taped in the steering wheel?

It's probably not a press fit, try rocking it while pulling up on it, or gently tapping near the hub with a soft face hammer while lifting.

Yep, the shaft is splined.
