Hi. I just joined the forum and I'm a relatively new tractor owner. I had an odd thing happen yesterday. While operating the tractor, I happened to pull up on the steering wheel and the wheel and shaft pulled up out of the steering box, It came out about 1/2 way up the tube.
I set it back in and it seemed to go back in place OK. It steers normally but you can lift the wheel and shaft out. I have a service manual but its not clear what holds the shaft in place. I'm hoping that its something simple like a broken shear or drift pin and an easy fix. Before I open the steering box up and get hip deep in alligators, does would anyone have any idea what's up? This is an L355SS with power steering. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks
