I've got a steering problem on a JD 4300 HST with 4WD. When traveling I have to keep turning the steering wheel to the right in order to go (somewhat) straight. In reverse it's the same thing: I have to not just nudge the wheel but turn it over and over to the right.

4WD or 2 doesn't seem to make any difference, and when the tractor is idling at rest the wheels stay straight.

I had previously snapped my steering cylinder (behind the front axle) on a stump when I was wedging rocks out of a field with my loader. That is one very overpriced part, and it was very difficult to remove the old cylinder from the tie rod ends out there in the field. New JD owners beware! That's a mistake I'll (hopefully) never make again.

It occurred to me that the new steering cylinder may be defective, but maybe the problem lies elsewhere. There is some fluid leakage around one of the steering spindles (between the axle and the hub housing), but I don't know if that has anything to do with it either.

Any ideas?
