The left side sector shaft seal is leaking on my Ford Golden Jubilee. The previous owner who has essentially rebuilt the box said that the shaft is worn and that is causing the leak. That said, I thought replacement shaft and then the vision of a complete teardown with all new seals, bushings, etc. came to mind. I would like to not have heavy oil dripping all over so something needs to be done. If replacing the shaft is necessary, can I remove and replace the sector shaft without removal of the steering shaft and other sector shaft? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I posted to your other thread above, about using grease in the steering box to stop a leak. Good luck with this.

if you replace the sector you will likely be doing both.

I'd simply fill the box with nlgi 0 # Ep grease.
