Steel prices up 20% in some sectors

Around $5 a linear foot for 28ga steel roofing...... $1 a foot for 2x4, pick your length. It’s almost the same price to sheet something in with 2x4 lumber as use 3/4” plywood....
The neighbour brought his sawmill over and in a few lazy afternoons we had 120 2x4’s and a bunch of strapping. However the mill ended up needing a new battery ($250) and an electric motor replaced ($800). So much for the savings!!

When our pos governor becomes Secretary of Commerce, you're gonna see mega commodity fuel taxes. She did it to us in my state.
Only one senator queried her on why she should get the job considering our state came in 50th for business climate because of high taxes and crippling regulation fees and surcharges she developed.
She'll do this on a national level.

I just priced out a 30�36 wood Pole Shed enclosed on 3 sides with 26ga galvalume @ $12k. I priced a 30�40 steel framed shed enclosed on 3 sides with 26ga galvalume @ $13,750. Are you Kiddin?!?!? Lumber is Out Of Site! ! ! I, of course, am going with the steel frame shed.

Just replaced the rafters on my daughters porch. One 2x8x12' spruce no. 2 grade = $22.
5/8" thick 4x8 Zip sheathing= $41 per sheet.

Steel joists currently have a lead time of 5-6 months. I have never seen that in my 40 year career. Demand is also driving those prices way up.

I'm betting we're in a deep recession in two years. Gas will be $5/gallon, IF you can find it. We'll have to buy our gas from South America because US production will be near non-existent. We'll have to beg Russia to send us jet fuel.

It won't be in 2 years, but for certain in 4.5 years....after the next election when the thieves in DC will enrich themselves at our expense. Having the prices increase to drastically in the next couple years would put the spotlight on them too bright right now.
