Starting Tractor in a garage

I had a 10 ft. piece of flexible exhaust pipe and found a short piece of solid pipe that just fits over my front facing exhaust on my B2650 . I cut the flexible pipe on 2 sides about 3 inches back as it was a little bigger than then the short solid pipe . I used 2 hose clamps to crimp it together and filled all the gaps with jb weld . It may not be pretty but really works well . I can let the tractor warm up in my under house heated garage with the door resting on top of the flexible pipe .

The other reason to do it, is that an idling diesel will produce a large amount of water vapor that will settle on everything.

I don't mind it, just start my tractor and roll it forward a few feet until its warm. I have a car I store on a trailer in the winter and I run it once a month. I priced out the exhaust hoses and they were way to expensive. Instead I'm using metal dryer hose and just flop it out a window. I connected it with an actual exhaust connector made for cars (cheap). For your tractor you could probably do the same, just find something that won't melt to connect the hose on, doesn't have to be a super tight hose. There will be lots of water, so drain it out when you're done if it isn't pointing down.

I would back it in to park it since it has the exhaust out front. Fire it up pull it out the door a few feet and let it warm up. Less trouble to do and no harm done to the tractor. I would not over think this. Just my opinion

Agree. This is what I do and I don't think twice about trying to reinvent the wheel. Moving it a few feet outside won't cause anything bad to happen plus you don't have to worry about any fumes leaking inside the garage.

If you have power in the garage, just put a fan facing out the door until you move out.

I usually park with the front of the tractor facing out. Start it up and pull it out within about 20 seconds. Smoke goes out the door and then the tractor.

Metal flexible dryer hose fitted snugly over the exhaust and run to the outside of the building works fine. You want it exiting high enough that it doesn't get plugged with leaves or snow. If it's less that 20 feet long, you probably won't need a blower fan. More than 20 feet, and you'll probably want a fan to assist.

Don't run it for long without opening the doors as you'll still get CO build up in the garage from small leaks in the system. And don't stand around in the garage waiting while it warms up unless you want to commit suicide. One other problem with running indoors is the sound levels are dangerous, even with a muffler and hose. Wear ear defenders!

I put CO detectors in my garage, I'd recommend doing that if you run it inside at all. Otherwise you won't know there is an issue until its very serious.

I have big tractors in the shop so I start them, open the door and go have a coffee, come back and get them out. Don't hang out in the shop, no point in having my clothes stink like diesel exhaust... I realize it's hillbilly incense, but it still stinks......

Besides, chases the cats out....a good thing.
