The thermometer outside the window is showing -30F. The woodstove in the basement is blazing. Ah .... global warming ...

Hope all y'all keep good and bundled up!

Down to about 3 degrees last night... high today should be 20... heat pump has ran steady for the last 12 hours (hate to see my next electric bill). Finally bought some coal yesterday and started the coal stove this am. House should be about 80 degrees by noon!

At 0915 it is still 3 degrees, but that is in the sun. An hour ago before sunup it was -7. Windchills currently ranging in the -30 area.

I had a balmy 1 above this morning in southern Indiana. I checked the thermostat and the geothermal was still pumping away, no back up heat needed. They're calling for a big warmup after today. I had a beagle drop a litter of puppies on Monday, so I've had the woodstove blazing in the barn ever since. It was down to 32 in the barn this morning before I stoked it up. Even with the fire going I can only get it up to about 45-50 in there. 32x40x12 is a big space to heat up, and it's not well insulated at all. I've got a heat lamp on the puppies though, so they're staying warm enough.

Yup. Here in the Twin Cities, the thermometer is scheduled to climb above 0 for the first time since Monday afternoon. 10 degrees will feel rather balmy, after this week.

I made the mistake of leaving a case of soda on the screem porch table overnight... froze and exploded cans all over the place this am... big mess to cleanup when it warms up.

I had 2 eggs freeze solid in the henhouse yesterday. Thankfully, it's very calm, so the windchil isn't outrageous. It's clear and sunny. It looks great, until you get outside and your nose hairs freeze. The dogs' water bowls are freezing up faster than I can get them thawed out and refilled.

Wish I was back in the Philippines... would probably go for a swim in the South China Sea!

Was 9 degrees here this morning and everyone was complaining about how bitterly cold it was.

I think you folks further north are a bunch of weenies... :D

Reached 10 so far. Had a little snow early this morning. Supposed to start warming and calling for a high of 50 Tuesday. Of course, then it is supposed to fall to a high of 29 the next day.

Your avitar looks familiar

I have to take her out regardless of the weather or she would tear the house apart with all her energy.

Had -18 this morning. I was just corrected a couple days ago. The "PC" term is now climate change, not global warming. Seems nobody can agrue about it that way. LOL

The thermometer went down to 17.5 this morning but I think the temps were a bit lower. Our thermometer is on the porch and the heat keeps it warm a couple of degrees. I take our oldest child to the bus stop and watch the truck thermometer to get a better "feel" for the temps.

The county went on a two hour delay today because of the cold. Rumor was so the buses would start.....

Think they need to use some PS, get new batteries and run synthetic oil? :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Tonight is down to 9ish.

This is the coldest it has been in since we built the house. Most winter mornings the wood stove keeps us at 75ish. This morning it was 70 which is bit cold. The kids rooms was 62! The stove is having a hard time keeping the living room at 73 or 74. If this was going to happen every year we would have to get a second wood stove.

Later,
Dan

Got down to -12 here this morning. I think it's about 6 right now. This may sound stupid, but I kind of wish we could keep the temps below freezing for 2 or 3 weeks.. I'd like the frost line to get a little deeper. Helps with the bugs in the spring and summer.
