59 - more master bath

65 - view of upper great room from loft. Beams are very dusty.

67 - looking down the stairs from the loft

69 - view of balcony through dirty window upstairs

70 - back end of attic storeroom. This room is part of the attic in conditioned space. Its not finished out and has no a/c vents, but it won't get hot in there like the attic. The two chairs were delivered by my cousin last week. My aunt (who died this year at 95) bought these chairs with a house back in 1951. They were already a few years old by then. They have since been recovered, probably more than once. They are going in the master.

71 - shelves in attic storeroom

72 - more of the storeroom. The door on the right leads into an upstairs bedroom, the one on the left goes into the attic over the garage.

87 & 88 - kitchen

91 - the garage doors we installed today. They will be painted pebble gray that matches the windows.

Whew! I looked at the pictures first and the blue doors caused me to wince a bit.:p ;) I was sure relieved when you said you were going to paint them.:)

The house looks great, Alan. I really love the style of your knotty pine doors and the trim inside the house. That's going to give it a really warm feel. I also am really jealous about your kitchen lighting. I just did'nt think through my kitchen lighting very well. The above cabinet lighting would have been much better and I've thought several times about adding it.

I know you are really looking forward to moving in and to start living in that beautiful house -- make it a home. You've sure done a great job in my estimation. Congratulations!

Again, looks very good, I like the look of your cabnets. I would do the same but my wife likes the look of a cherry colored cabnets. I also like the storage room you did. It will always come in handy.

Seems to me that if you have under the cabinet lights you could fairly easily run a wire up against the back wall inside the upper cabinets to power the lights on top. Our electrician put outlets on the wall above the cabinets which showed after the cabinets were installed. I had them move them down where you couldn't see them, and I patched up the sheetrock before the wallpaper lady came in.

Shellie and I put in both the upper and lower cabinet lights (separate switches) when we did our cabinets. We did it as a "might as well do it while we can" that turned into a "really glad we did that!". The above cabinet rope lights (hidden by the moulding) work great as a night light and the under cabinet lights are a great accent.

I strongly recommmend them for anyone doing a kitchen remodel. Our lights, both the above cabinet ropes and the under cabinet halogens, were bought at Lowes.

We are in!

Almost 7 mos after breaking ground we moved in today. Still have lots of stuff in the "bunk house" where we have lived for the last 6.5 years, but we got the big stuff set up - washer, dryer, freezer, 2 fridges w/ icemakers etc.

Plus, I picked up a new Panasonic plasma TV at Sam's last night and it is awesome even on antenna. Didn't realize there were so many HD channels on antenna around here.

We've had Directv for 10 or 12 years but when it came time to go HD I made the decision to switch to Dish network which will be installed next week. The DVR is very important and all the reviews on the directv dvr (they no longer use TIVO" are terrible.

I hope I don't regret the change.

House is great, Mrs. Alan L. took her first bath in the whirlpool and I took my first shower. Now we will see how the sleeping part of it goes......
