But this looks just like the one we took out

It says remanufactured in usa on the one we took out is this oem or has some one changed it out?
Im 2ed owner
On a side note as its geting older but has low miles I dont have any places near by that works on these and am looking for a bit more power and quick change arms any advice on a trade up?

Hi willy ty for the reply was trying to get the oem or some info on a good after market head tech here says most of the after market ones last about 60 days and die.
Thanks.
Neighbor has 4100 Ford. Bought starter from Amazon in 2017 for about 40% off OEM New Holland. Still working as it should.

This is just speculation on my part, but it seems to me 'new OEM' (rochester link) is not available anymore, anywhere, at any price and *might* not ever return, at least with that specific part number. Looking at Messicks site for the exact same part number (no R) it says even the the part number which superseded it is NLA. I just have little to no hope you'll find a "New" OEM.

I'm pretty certain the R suffix on the part at Messicks means remanufactured, The 'reman in USA' sticker on your current starter definitely means it has been replaced before and is not the starter which came with the brand new tractor. I think of it this way: That is an OEM starter that has been rebuilt. It's not really and truly an 'aftermarket' brand.

I respectfully push back a bit against the advice of the head tech at your shop. I have purchased the aftermarket brands and done fine with them, although I truly understand why he would say that. I'd have to agree with him that the aftermarkets might have a higher failure rate, but I also keep in mind he is a mechanic and guys don't bring equipment to him because it's running good. In other words, all he sees are the failures, not the ones that are doing well.

I'm hoping that helps a little,
God Bless

This is an odd starter and has caused me a lot of grief where I use to work. New Holland replaced a 11 tooth starter with 9 teeth. I am not sure why, but either will work in all the applications. They look way different, and the different tooth count is scary. However the engineers at NH have determined it worked. I was selling a few hundred a year and never received one back with wrecked teeth. Looking at it I still cannot figure out how they are interchangeable, but it seems to work just fine.
