Starter for a Satoh buck

Can I buy a starter shaft without buying a complete starter for a Satoh buck? The starter will not engage just spins , I disassembled the starter to see what it was doing or not doing and the shaft in the gear box was slipping. Any suggestions.

not unless you get very lucky will you find parts for the original satoh starter. but if this makes it any easier i can supply new universal starter for about $275.00 and it is a gear reduction style have sold several over the last few years and they all have worked well.
