Kioti DK45
I have been told that the solenoid is bad. I have also been told that a new starter will cost $300.00. The tractor has less than 100 hours turned 3yrs old in May. Does anyone have any suggestions, or has this happened to you? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Just the selinoid is 300 or whole new starter? How much for just the selinoid? They're easy to change.

My DK45 parts manual only shows the starter as a replacable part. Seems hard to believe you would have to replace the whole thing. If you can I would take it out/apart and clean/lubricate everything and reassemble. My thought would be that moisture has gotten inside and corroded parts. This has worked for me many times!

Good luck Dave

My vote is the local starter shop. They carry parts to fix almost anything!

The Kioti dealer in Las Cruces, NM is the one that told me that I would have to replace the starter even though only the solenoid is bad. Also, I have been told that no one here knows how to rebuild or take apart the Kioti starter. So even though only the solenoid is bad, I have to replace the entire starter which the Kioti dealer quoted a price of $300.00 /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

If the starter is junk anyways, whats the harm in taking to a starter shop? If you tell them you were told no one knows how to dismantle it, they will make it their mission to find out! It can't be too unique, 300$ is about the price of any other tractor starter.

ya take it to a starter shop. It should be a Valeo Starter. It will say on the starter. Any good shop should have no problem getting a solenoid for it i wouldn't think. Couldn't hurt to try.

Sally, you've probably fixed it by now but,I just wanted to say that my 2002 DK40 has a Delco starter. As you may or may not know Delco is a division of GM.
Looking at the solenoid I swear I've seen it used on an auto starter,so as the others have said a local starter shop should be able to help you out.......Mike
