starter / dash

a little long but here's my problems At times when it starts have to smack dash to get tack & rpm to register Starter will click at times like solenoid not engaging. Will start if I keep trying can they be related. some post say clicking may not be solenoid but electrical but my impression is that if safety switch not working you'd get nothing . My dealer can't look at it for 3 weeks Any help appreciated

You smack the dash of a what?....
Check electrical connectors where wiring meet the dash assembly for starters...

or mouse house in the dash

If you can hit the dash and things work you either has a loose
wire/dirty connection check all connections and make sure they
are clean put some electrical lubrication to keep the contacts from
corroding
