Starlink

I got fiber installed yesterday. I get 2.4 Gbps down and 2.56 Gbps up.

I guess that makes me a Gigillionaire!

I'll cancel our Starlink before next month but keep the equipment until I know what our new house has, whenever we find one.

Getting the fiber at our place will be a really good selling point when it comes time to list it.

They laid all the fiber conduit yesterday, and even got a bunch of pull boxes buried. They have the one at my driveway installed.

Its getting closer every day…….

I just put my Starlink on standby mode for $5/mo, now that we have fiber. I'll see if I need the starlink at the new place, before I cancel it.

I was going to do the same. So its available if some dwad digs up the fiber. Without an internet connection, we have no phone service without climbing on roof……..

You must have 10 kids playing video games at the same time to use that kind of data.

No, just my wife and me with streaming TV service. We cancelled our satellite ($120/mo) when we got Starlink ($125/mo) and could stream. Now the fiber is cheaper ($79/mo) and faster than Starlink. The fiber is a great selling point when we list our house in a few months.

i don't follow why you would buy internet with a speed of 2.4 Gigabytes/sec. There is no way that you would need that and I am surprised it would be available for a home. I wonder if they were talking about wifi at 2.4 ghz. I have 300 Mbps and find that more than adequate. I could have the maximum speed here of 1 G/s for a higher price but I see no reason to give away money. What company is providing your internet?

I'm looking at the app right now, on my phone. It says fastest download 2.37 Gbps, upload 2.55 Gbps. We've downloaded 97.7 GB and uploaded 6.4GB

It's through Frontier and our neighbor works for them. I'm not sure what packages were available, they surveyed my wife for our uses, 5 streaming TV's and 2 laptops with requirements to hold Teams and Zoom meetings. Regardless, the monthly fee is almost 1/2 what we paid for Starlink.
